Emmi-Pet
Dental Hygiene

Why your dogs dental hygiene is important

If your dog's dental health is poor, you risk your dog having painful teeth and gums.  Just as in humans, plaque builds up over time.  The next stage is tartar, leading to gum disease and more serious (and costly) health problems.

How do I know my dog has dental issues?

Bad breath is a common complaint from owners - and despite it being common, it's not normal.  You may notice your dogs teeth are yellow or appear stained which is a sign of plaque or tartar build up.  Your dog may have red gums in places (good gums are a healthy pink).  Your dog may also have problems eating or be reluctant to pick up their favourite toys.

Tell me about Emmi-Pet

The Emmi-pet ultrasonic toothbrush cleans gently and thoroughly without damaging the tooth structure and prevents painful gum inflammation. It stimulates blood circulation and releases the body's own healing energy without the need for scrubbing.

Emmi-pet is completely silent, does not vibrate and doesn't need to be moved on the teeth, which means almost all dogs are happy with it when introduced to it correctly.

Experts support using Emmi-pet for dental care to reduce the risks of tooth problems and unnecessary anaesthesia. However, the use of the ultrasonic toothbrush does not replace a visit to the vet.  The first visit includes a full assessment, where a vet referral is considered most appropriate the Emmi-pet technician will advise this and not continue with the Emmi-Pet process.

Can you treat my dog in just one session?

Unless you treat your dogs teeth like your own (brushing daily) the build up will have happened over a period of time.  As such, it can't be removed in one session, and several sessions are required to reduce build up of plaque and tarter.

Generally, a big difference will be seen in 8-10 sessions, then maintenance sessions are required every 4-8 weeks.

5

What does it cost?

It is important to start with a consultation to assess the current oral health of your dog. This includes an explanation of the process, checking your dogs mouth and introducing them to Emmi-pet.  Your dog will also get it's own toothbrush head.   You will then have an idea of how many sessions it will take to get your dog to the maintenance stage.

This initial assessment costs £50

Each additional treatment (30 min session) £30

If an additional treatment is booked alongside a groom, there is a 50% reduction (£15 for a 30 min session)

As it generally takes 8-10 sessions to make a difference when there is a build up of plaque and tarter, Hydro Hounds offers the following package:

Emmi-Pet consultation and 10 30 min treatments - £300 (which can be paid in two instalments).
